Title 21 › Chapter CHAPTER 10— - POULTRY AND POULTRY PRODUCTS INSPECTION › § 471
The Safe Meat and Poultry Inspection Panel must review and evaluate, when needed, whether poultry inspection is adequate, safe, cost-effective, and supported by science. It looks at inspection procedures and federal worker rules at inspected plants, informal proposals to change inspection methods, formal regulatory changes at any stage (notice, proposed, or final), and other matters the Secretary sends about inspection quality or effectiveness. After each review, the panel must send the Secretary a report with findings and recommendations. For reports about formal regulatory changes, the panel must file them within the time allowed for formal comments.
