Defines key words used in this part of the law. “Admitted” and “alien” use the meanings in section 1101 of title 8. “Appropriate congressional committees” means the Senate Committees on Foreign Relations and Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, and the House Committees on Foreign Affairs and Financial Services. “Correspondent account” and “payable-through account” use the meanings in section 5318A of title 31. “Foreign financial institution” is whatever the Secretary of the Treasury defines by regulation. “Foreign person” = not a United States person. “Knowingly” = actual knowledge or should have known. “Person” = individual or entity. “Support” of the Burmese military = knowingly giving material, financial, technological help, goods, services, sponsorship, or similar assistance. “United States person” = (A) U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident; (B) entity organized under U.S. law, including a foreign branch; or (C) any person in the United States.
