§2502 Presidential authorization; appropriations and financial readjustments

Title 22 › Chapter CHAPTER 34— - THE PEACE CORPS › § 2502

Last updated Apr 6, 2026|Official source

Summary

The President may run programs to carry out the goals of this chapter and decide the terms for those programs. Money is authorized to be appropriated as follows: $270,000,000 for fiscal year 2000, $298,000,000 for fiscal year 2001, $327,000,000 for fiscal year 2002, and $365,000,000 for fiscal year 2003. Each year’s funds can be used during that year and the next. In addition, extra sums may be appropriated each fiscal year as needed to pay salary, retirement, or other employee benefit increases. Because women in developing countries are important to the economy and family life, the Peace Corps must give special attention to projects that help integrate women into national economies. Also, because there are over 400,000,000 disabled people worldwide and 95 percent are among the poorest, the Peace Corps must pay special attention to projects that help integrate disabled people into national economies.
