The government may set aside money each year in the State Department to pay the United States’ share of the costs for the International Union for the Publication of Customs Tariffs and the bureau that carries out its work. This can include payments under the July 5, 1890 convention (as amended), but the U.S. share cannot be more than 6 percent of those expenses each year.
