Title 22 › Chapter CHAPTER 7— - INTERNATIONAL BUREAUS, CONGRESSES, ETC. › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER XV— - INTERNATIONAL MONETARY FUND AND BANK FOR RECONSTRUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT › § 286z
Require the Treasury Secretary to tell the U.S. Executive Director at the Fund (the International Monetary Fund) to start talks with other directors and Fund managers and to push for rules that make the Fund collect and share, every quarter, data on cross-border loans and unused credit lines. The data must cover credit that banks or nonbanks give to private and public entities (including governments, government agencies, and central banks) and credit those entities get when the lender is not mainly based in their country. The Fund must also publish the information it collects and look at ways to improve the data used for international lending and borrowing. "Credit" here means outstanding loans and unused lines of credit. The President may use the authority in section 286f to require anyone under U.S. jurisdiction to provide the needed information.
