Title 22 › Chapter CHAPTER 8— - FOREIGN SERVICE BUILDINGS › § 294b
The Secretary may modify, repair, and furnish U.S. government-owned or leased space so a foreign government can share that space. Before doing this, the Secretary must consult with the appropriate congressional committees and the Senate and House Appropriations Committees in enough time and give cost and purpose details. The Secretary decides the terms, including whether the foreign government will pay some or all of the costs. Any payments or advances go back into the same budget account and can be used for its original purpose.
