§3313 Congressional oversight

Summary

The House Foreign Affairs Committee, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and other relevant congressional committees must oversee four areas: how this chapter is carried out; the Institute’s operations; U.S.–Taiwan legal and technical ties; and U.S. security and cooperation in East Asia. They must report their findings to their own chamber when appropriate.

Title 22, §3313

Foreign Relations and Intercourse — Source: USLM XML via OLRC

(a)The Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives, the Committee on Foreign Relations of the Senate, and other appropriate committees of the Congress shall monitor—
(1)the implementation of the provisions of this chapter;
(2)the operation and procedures of the Institute;
(3)the legal and technical aspects of the continuing relationship between the United States and Taiwan; and
(4)the implementation of the policies of the United States concerning security and cooperation in East Asia.
(b)Such committees shall report, as appropriate, to their respective Houses on the results of their monitoring.
