Title 22 › Chapter CHAPTER 53— - AUTHORITIES RELATING TO THE REGULATION OF FOREIGN MISSIONS › § 4304a
Heads of foreign missions must tell the Secretary right away if a mission member, a family member of a mission member, or an individual described in section 19 of the Convention on Privileges and Immunities of the United Nations of February 13, 1946 loses liability insurance. By February 1 each year, the head of each mission must send a list of motor vehicles, vessels, and aircraft registered in the United States by those people or by the mission. For each item the list must show where it is registered, the name of the insured, the insurance company, the policy number and how much coverage there is, and any other details the Secretary asks for. The Secretary may make a formal finding if a mission member, a family member, or the section‑19 U.N. individual is at fault for injury, death, or property damage from operating a vehicle, vessel, or aircraft in the United States, is not covered by liability insurance, and has not paid a court judgment or is not legally liable. Definitions: "head of a foreign mission" = meaning given to "head of a mission" in Article 1 of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of April 18, 1961; "members of a mission" and "family" = meanings in paragraphs (1) and (2) of section 254a.
