§5203 Enforcement

Summary

The Attorney General must take steps and, when needed, bring legal action to make the chapter’s rules work. If a violation happens in a district, a U.S. district court there can, when the Attorney General asks, issue orders to stop the violation and other fair remedies it thinks are needed to enforce the chapter.

Title 22, §5203

Foreign Relations and Intercourse — Source: USLM XML via OLRC

(a)The Attorney General shall take the necessary steps and institute the necessary legal action to effectuate the policies and provisions of this chapter.
(b)Any district court of the United States for a district in which a violation of this chapter occurs shall have authority, upon petition of relief by the Attorney General, to grant injunctive and such other equitable relief as it shall deem necessary to enforce the provisions of this chapter.
