Summary

Up to $12,000,000 can be set aside under the Economic Support Fund for the three-year period beginning October 1, 1989, to support democratic institutions and activities in Poland and Hungary. This money is in addition to other funds and can be given even if another law would otherwise prevent it.

(a)In addition to amounts otherwise available for such purposes, there are authorized to be appropriated to carry out chapter 4 of part II of the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961 (22 U.S.C. 2346 and following; relating to the economic support fund) $12,000,000 for the 3-year period beginning October 1, 1989, which shall be available only for the support of democratic institutions and activities in Poland and Hungary.
(b)Assistance may be provided under this section notwithstanding any other provision of law.
