Title 22 › Chapter CHAPTER 63— - SUPPORT FOR EAST EUROPEAN DEMOCRACY (SEED) › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER VI— - REPORTS TO CONGRESS › § 5473

Last updated Apr 6, 2026|Official source

Summary

The first report under section 5474 must describe the environmental problems in Poland and Hungary. It must rank those problems by how serious they are and how they affect people and the environment, identify the areas hit hardest and explain what caused the damage and how large it is, assess how major industrial polluters are performing and how industrial modernization will likely change pollution, and say what each country should make a priority and how much money and staff a full environmental protection program would need. The report must also lay out a U.S. five-year assistance plan. That plan must recommend suitable amounts and kinds of bilateral financial and technical help, advise on U.S. participation in international cooperative efforts, evaluate debt-for-nature swaps for each country, and recommend steps to prevent more damage to Krakow and to protect and restore its historic sites.
