Title 22 › Chapter CHAPTER 63— - SUPPORT FOR EAST EUROPEAN DEMOCRACY (SEED) › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER VII— - MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS › § 5492
Congress congratulates the people of Hungary for declaring an independent, democratic Republic of Hungary on October 23, 1989 and says it wants stronger friendly ties between Hungary and the United States. Congress notes the declaration took place in Budapest’s Kossuth Square on the 33d anniversary of the 1956 revolution, was announced from the same balcony used by Imre Nagy in 1956, and that Americans admire the 1956 struggle and Hungary’s current efforts to build a free, independent, and prosperous nation.
