The Office of Space Commerce may and is encouraged to run trade missions to independent states of the former Soviet Union to show U.S. aerospace companies available space hardware, technologies, services, and business practices. The Office must track the talks described in section 5871(c)(1) and advise NASA's head on how each possible purchase from those states would affect U.S. industry, including any anti-competitive issues it finds.
