Title 22 › Chapter CHAPTER 73— - INTERNATIONAL RELIGIOUS FREEDOM › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER IV— - REFUGEE, ASYLUM, AND CONSULAR MATTERS › § 6473a
The Secretary of State must create and keep a list, working with the Ambassador at Large and consulting government and non‑government experts, of foreign people who were denied a visa under section 1182(a)(2)(G) of title 8 for particularly severe violations of religious freedom or who face financial sanctions or other measures for those kinds of violations. The list is called the "Designated Persons List for Particularly Severe Violations of Religious Freedom." The Secretary must send a report with that list to the appropriate congressional committees. For each person the report must include their name, a description of the violation, the country or place where it happened, and what actions were taken under this chapter, other laws, or Executive orders. The first report was due not later than 180 days after December 16, 2016, with updates every 180 days and as new information becomes available. The report should be unclassified but may include a classified annex. "Appropriate congressional committees" means the Senate Committees on Foreign Relations, Appropriations, and Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, and the House Committees on Foreign Affairs, Appropriations, and Financial Services.
