Defines key words used in the chapter. "Agricultural commodity" uses the meaning in section 102 of the Agricultural Trade Act of 1978 (7 U.S.C. 5602). "Agricultural program" covers programs under the Food for Peace Act (7 U.S.C. 1691 et seq.), programs under section 1431 of title 7, programs under the Agricultural Trade Act of 1978 (7 U.S.C. 5601 et seq.), any commercial export sale of agricultural commodities, and any U.S. export financing (including credits or credit guarantees) for agricultural commodities. "Joint resolution" only means a resolution filed within 10 session days after Congress gets the President’s report and whose resolving clause approves that report under the Trade Sanctions Reform and Export Enhancement Act of 2000 (for section 7202(a)(1) under section 903(a)(1), and for section 7205(1) under section 906(1)), with the report date inserted. "Medical device" and "medicine" use the meanings in section 321 of title 21. "Unilateral agricultural sanction" means a U.S. ban or restriction on an agricultural program for foreign policy or national security reasons, except when it is done under a multilateral regime with similar measures by other members or under a mandatory U.N. Security Council decision. "Unilateral medical sanction" means the same kind of ban or restriction, but applied to exports of or assistance with medicine or medical devices.
