§7906 Technology demonstration projects

Title 22 › Chapter CHAPTER 86— - CLIMATE CHANGE TECHNOLOGY DEPLOYMENT IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES › § 7906

Last updated Apr 6, 2026|Official source

Summary

The Secretary of State, working with the Secretary of Energy and the head of USAID, must promote and support technologies and practices that lower greenhouse gas intensity in developing countries. They must plan, coordinate, run, or help with pilot projects in at least 10 countries they choose. A country can get help only if it shows a commitment to fair government (rule of law, human and civil rights, property rights, and fighting corruption) and to economic freedom (trade and capital openness, private-sector growth and sustainable resource use, and stronger market forces). When picking countries, the officials must look at how much the projects could cut greenhouse gas intensity and how much they could boost economic growth. Projects can include coal gasification and liquefaction, clean coal, carbon sequestration, cogeneration, renewable energy, and cleaner transportation.
