When certain congressional committees ask for a briefing about how named parts of the law are being carried out, the named officials must give that briefing within 15 days of the request. If the request is about section 9711 or 9731, the Secretary of State and the USAID Administrator must brief the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Senate Appropriations Committee, House Foreign Affairs Committee, and House Appropriations Committee. If it is about section 9751, the Secretary of State must brief those same four committees. For sections 9703, 9712, or 142, the Secretary of State must brief the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the House Foreign Affairs Committee (and the same two committees apply for sections 9721 or 9722). For section 131, the Secretary of State and the Director of National Intelligence must brief the Senate Foreign Relations, Senate Select Intelligence, House Foreign Affairs, and House Permanent Select Intelligence Committees. For section 9741, the Secretary of State, the Secretary of the Treasury, and the Attorney General must brief six committees (Senate Foreign Relations; Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs; Senate Judiciary; House Foreign Affairs; House Financial Services; House Judiciary). For section 9752, the Secretary of State, the Secretary of the Treasury, and the Secretary of Homeland Security must brief the Senate Foreign Relations; Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs; House Foreign Affairs; and House Homeland Security Committees.
