"Appropriate congressional committees" are the Senate Foreign Relations and Appropriations Committees and the House Foreign Affairs and Appropriations Committees. In this chapter:
(1)The term “appropriate congressional committees” means—
(A)the Committee on Foreign Relations and the Committee on Appropriations of the Senate; and
(B)the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Committee on Appropriations of the House of Representatives.
(2)The term “relevant Federal department or agency” means the Department of State, the United States Agency for International Development, the Department of Defense, the Department of 11 So in original. Probably should be followed by “the”. Treasury, and any other Federal department or agency the President determines is relevant to carry out the purposes of this chapter.
