Title 25 › Chapter CHAPTER 24— - INDIAN LAND CONSOLIDATION › § 2215
The Secretary must set up an Acquisition Fund to pay for buying interests in trust or restricted lands under section 2212. The fund also holds money from leases, permits, sales of resources, or payments by Indian landowners tied to those interests. All income from those leases, permits, or sales must go into the Acquisition Fund. With approval in advance in appropriation laws, this money can be used to buy more fractional or undivided interests. Purchases should be made on the same reservation that produced the income. The Secretary may use the fund to buy some or all undivided interests in parcels under section 2204.
