Summary

Before the authority in section 2212(a)(2)(A) ends, the Secretary must, after talking with Indian tribes and other interested parties, send a report to the Senate Committees on Indian Affairs and on Energy and Natural Resources and to the House Committee on Resources. The report must say how many partial ownership shares in trust or restricted lands were acquired during the period, describe how that reduction affected the Bureau of Indian Affairs’ financial and realty records, and state whether the buy-back program should be extended or changed to provide resources to Indian tribes and individual Indian landowners.
