Not later than 90 days after July 29, 2010, the Attorney General must set up an Office of Tribal Justice inside the Department of Justice and provide the staff and funding it needs. The office must advise the Attorney General about treaty and trust relations with tribes, act as the main contact for federally recognized tribes on DOJ policies and public safety in Indian country, and make sure DOJ parts consult tribal leaders promptly and meaningfully on policies affecting trust duties, treaty rights, tribal sovereignty, or other tribal interests.
