Anyone who must file a report or certify information under this law — including the reports listed in subparagraphs (E) through (I) of section 1021(k) — or who would have to but is covered by an exemption or simplified reporting under section 1024(a)(2) or (3), must keep a copy of the report and the records behind it. The records must give enough basic facts and data so the report can be checked, explained, or corrected, and must include vouchers, worksheets, receipts, and any applicable resolutions. These records must be available for inspection for at least six years after the report’s filing date, or six years after the date it would have been filed if an exemption or simplified reporting did not apply.
