Title 29 › Chapter CHAPTER 20— - MIGRANT AND SEASONAL AGRICULTURAL WORKER PROTECTION › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER I— - FARM LABOR CONTRACTORS › § 1811
You cannot do farm labor contracting work unless you have a registration certificate from the Secretary that says which contracting tasks you are allowed to do. A farm labor contractor must not hire or use anyone for that work unless that person has a registration certificate that covers the job. The contractor is responsible for any violations by their employees, even if an employee’s registration depends on the contractor’s certificate. While working, registered contractors and their registered employees must carry their certificate and show it when asked by people they deal with. If a contractor refuses or fails to show the certificate when asked, they can be denied the facilities and services provided under the Wagner-Peyser Act (June 6, 1933; 29 U.S.C. 49 et seq.).
