Summary

A registration certificate cannot be transferred or given to someone else. Unless it is suspended or revoked, the certificate ends 12 months after it is issued. Certificates issued between December 1, 1982 and November 30, 1983 could be issued for up to 24 months to allow a transition. You can temporarily extend a certificate by filing an application with the Secretary at least 30 days before it expires. The Secretary can renew a certificate for additional 12‑month terms or for longer renewals up to 24 months. Only farm labor contractors who have not been cited for violating this law or its rules, or the Farm Labor Contractor Registration Act of 1963 or its rules, in the prior five years can get renewals longer than 12 months.
