Title 29 › Chapter CHAPTER 8— - FAIR LABOR STANDARDS › § 218
Requires employers to follow any higher minimum wage, shorter workweek, or stricter child-labor rule set by federal, state, or local law. Employers also must not cut a wage that already exceeds the chapter’s minimum or make workers work more hours than a shorter maximum the chapter allows. Except for section 213(f) of this title, the chapter’s rules do not override other rules for two groups: federal employees in the Canal Zone doing work listed in 5 U.S.C. 5102(c)(7), and employees of Armed Forces nonappropriated fund instrumentalities.
