Title 29 › Chapter CHAPTER 4C— - APPRENTICE LABOR › § 50c
Starting 180 days after March 26, 2020, any program applying to be a registered apprenticeship must give the Secretary of Labor a written promise from its sponsor. The sponsor must say it knows about education benefits for veterans under chapters 30–36 of title 38, will try in good faith to get approval for those benefits at each program site that hires or recruits eligible veterans, and will not reject a qualified veteran just to avoid seeking that approval. The Secretary must also, following 29 C.F.R. 29.5(b)(5) and (12) as they were on March 25, 2020, require sponsors, when possible, to give enrolled veterans credit or advanced standing and higher pay if they show relevant skills or military experience. When a program is approved, the Secretary must send its registration certificate to the State approving agency under chapter 36 of title 38 where the program is located. Registered apprenticeship program: an apprenticeship registered under the National Apprenticeship Act (August 16, 1937). Secretary: the Secretary of Labor.
