Title 29 › Chapter CHAPTER 16— - VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION AND OTHER REHABILITATION SERVICES › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER V— - RIGHTS AND ADVOCACY › § 794f
Within 24 months after March 23, 2010, the Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Board must create rules, working with the Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration and following the Administrative Procedure Act, that set minimum technical standards for medical diagnostic equipment used in doctors’ offices, clinics, emergency rooms, hospitals, and other medical places. The rules must make the equipment accessible and usable by people with disabilities, letting them get in, use, and get out on their own as much as possible. The standards cover exam tables and chairs (including eye and dental chairs), weight scales, mammography, x‑ray and other common diagnostic imaging machines, and the Board must review and update the rules from time to time.
