Summary

Leaders of executive departments, agencies, or independent agencies can temporarily assign their employees to work at the White House Office, the Executive Residence at the White House, the Office of the Vice President, the Domestic Policy Staff, and the Office of Administration. The office that receives the employee must pay back the sending department for that employee’s salary, but only when two things are true: the person is on a temporary assignment there, and the work they do has been or would be done by someone in the receiving office.
