Title 30 › Chapter CHAPTER 12A— - ENTRY AND LOCATION ON COAL LANDS ON DISCOVERY OF SOURCE MATERIAL › § 541b
Under the limits in section 541a, a mining claim made under U.S. mining laws (including chapter 12) on lands described in section 541 — except land already inside a coal prospecting permit or lease — gives the claimant the right to mine, remove, and dispose of lignite that contains valuable source material and lignite that must be removed to recover that material. The claimant must follow the reporting and payment rules in section 541, follow the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, and file a proper description of the claim at the land office named in section 541. This does not reduce the rights from a mining claim under the 1872 Mining Act, and it does not add duties for source material that is not in a seam, bed, or deposit of lignite.
