A U.S. or D.C. government officer or employee who breaks the rules in sections 1341(a) or 1342 must be disciplined by their agency. The agency can punish them, including suspending them without pay or removing them from their job when the situation calls for it. If an officer or employee purposely uses or allows use of a government passenger car or aircraft for non-official reasons (unless the use is allowed under section 1344), or otherwise breaks section 1344, the agency head must suspend them without pay for at least one month. They can be suspended longer or fired when appropriate.
