Title 31 › Subtitle SUBTITLE II— - THE BUDGET PROCESS › Chapter CHAPTER 15— - APPROPRIATION ACCOUNTING › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER III— - TRANSFERS AND REIMBURSEMENTS › § 1536
Advance payments made under section 1535 must go into a special working fund that the Secretary of the Treasury sets up. Other payments are credited back to the appropriation or fund that paid to fill the order. Money paid under section 1535 can be used to buy or provide the goods or services, or for the purpose of the fund or appropriation credited. If goods come from stock, the payment is used to replace them unless another law directs otherwise or the agency head decides not to replace them; then the money is sent to the Treasury as miscellaneous receipts. Other laws about working funds still apply.
