Title 32 › Chapter CHAPTER 1— - ORGANIZATION › § 105
The Secretaries of the Army and the Air Force must have inspections done of the Army National Guard and Air National Guard. Inspectors general or other regular commissioned officers assigned for that job will check eight areas, including whether Guard property is the right amount and in good condition; whether the Guard is organized correctly; whether members meet physical and other qualifications; whether units are properly uniformed, armed, equipped, and trained for field or coastal duty; whether records and financial accounts are kept correctly; deployment readiness; and compliance with federal law and Guard policies. Inspection reports decide if a Guard unit can get or keep military property, which organizations and people count as Guard units and members, and which units meet deployability standards. The Chief of the National Guard Bureau can order the same inspections to be done by Guard officers for the Secretaries, but only with the Secretary’s approval.
