Title 33 › Chapter CHAPTER 24— - VESSEL BRIDGE-TO-BRIDGE COMMUNICATION › § 1208
If the ship's master or person in charge, or someone they put in charge to steer or direct the ship, does not follow or enforce the rules under this chapter, that person can be fined up to $500 by the Secretary. Any vessel that operates in violation of these rules can also be fined up to $500, and the vessel can face legal action in a U.S. district court that has jurisdiction. The Secretary can reduce or cancel a penalty and set whatever conditions the Secretary thinks are proper.
