The Administrator must study how pollutants in water hurt people's health and well‑being. The work must be done with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and other federal, state, and interstate agencies. The research must especially look at how pollutants build up in fish and other aquatic animals and how that lowers the value of commercial and sport fishing and related businesses. It must also study ways to reduce or remove those pollutants from affected aquatic species to help restore and improve these resources.
