Summary

The Secretary of Transportation can suspend or cancel a vessel’s permit after giving notice and a chance for a hearing, and must do so if the Administrator asks, and either official can go to the federal district court where the violation happened to get an order stopping operations that break the rules.

(a)After notice and opportunity for a hearing, the Secretary of Transportation may, and at the request of the Administrator shall, suspend or revoke a permit issued to a vessel under this chapter for a violation of this chapter or a regulation prescribed under this chapter.
(b)The Secretary or the Administrator may bring a civil action to enjoin any operation in violation of this chapter or a regulation prescribed under this chapter in the district court of the United States for the district in which the violation occurred.
