Title 33 › Chapter CHAPTER 12— - RIVER AND HARBOR IMPROVEMENTS GENERALLY › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER I— - GENERAL PROVISIONS › § 578b

Summary

When the Army Corps reviews whether to keep or get rid of one of its projects or a part of a project, the Secretary must look for changes that would make the environment better, including removing the project or part. The review must be open to the public, with chances for people to comment and with the final study published. If the Secretary decides the project is no longer in the federal government's interest and recommends removal, the Secretary may use existing legal authority to carry out the removal and can work with other federal agencies and non‑federal partners that have the needed skills.
