Title 33 › Chapter CHAPTER 15— - FLOOD CONTROL › § 701b
Federal studies and improvements of rivers and waterways for flood control must be handled by the Department of the Army. The work is led by the Secretary of the Army and overseen by the Chief of Engineers, unless Congress says otherwise. When reporting on studies, the Secretary must use the flood-control principles in section 701a to decide federal interests. This does not affect river investigations or improvements that are part of reclamation projects done by the Bureau of Reclamation in the Department of the Interior when those projects are authorized by law.
