Title 33 › Chapter CHAPTER 15— - FLOOD CONTROL › § 701t
Provides $25,000,000 as an emergency fund to repair, strengthen, or change levees and other flood-control work damaged or threatened by floods. The Secretary of the Army directs the work and the Chief of Engineers supervises. Local interests must give, free to the United States, any needed land, easements, and rights-of-way and must operate and maintain the works to the Chief’s satisfaction. Until the fund is available, the Secretary may use existing flood-control funds and later repay them, but not from unobligated “Flood control, general” balances in War Department Civil Functions Appropriation Acts.
