Title 33 › Chapter CHAPTER 15— - FLOOD CONTROL › § 702g–1
Provides $15,000,000 as an emergency fund. The Secretary of the Army, on the recommendation of the Chief of Engineers, may use it for rescue operations or to build, repair, or maintain any flood-control work on tributaries of the Mississippi River that are threatened or destroyed by past or future floods. Any unspent money may be used, again on the Chief of Engineers’ recommendation, to repay levee districts or others for work done before June 15, 1936 on projects harmed by the 1927 flood or later floods, and to fix or reimburse work damaged or threatened by caving riverbanks (whether or not the caving happened during a flood). If the Chief of Engineers finds it necessary or better, the location of a flood-control project may be changed and approved.
