Title 34 › Subtitle Subtitle I— - Comprehensive Acts › Chapter CHAPTER 101— - JUSTICE SYSTEM IMPROVEMENT › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER I— - OFFICE OF JUSTICE PROGRAMS › § 10108
DOJ grant money for a fiscal year must be able to be awarded only during that fiscal year and the three succeeding fiscal years, unless the authorization says something different. If the money is reprogrammed into a later year, it is treated as money for that later year. If money was obligated and later deobligated, the award period is extended by the same number of days the funds were obligated. Money already awarded to a grantee can only be spent during the time the grant allows, and money not spent must be deobligated. DOJ grant funds — money appropriated for Justice Department grant programs in a fiscal year. This rule applies starting with fiscal year 2006.
