Each year the Attorney General must set aside $20,000,000 to help local governments find, develop, and buy new law-enforcement technology. $1,000,000 of that must go to the Bureau of Justice Statistics for data. The Attorney General must also reserve $20,000,000 for state and local antiterrorism training grants. The Attorney General may set aside up to 5 percent of the yearly funds for grants under section 10152 if needed to respond to sudden spikes in crime or to prevent or fix serious problems caused by the funding formula in section 10156.
