The Attorney General can give one national private nonprofit a grant if it has experience running crime‑prevention outreach and media work with police, local officials, schools, youth groups, faith groups, victims’ groups, employers, and similar community organizations. To get the grant, that group must apply to the Attorney General using whatever form and information the Attorney General requires. A grant recipient must run national public communications and education work, make and share materials, build and run websites and online tools, train police and community leaders, give technical help to states and local areas, lead a coalition of groups, run pilot programs, operate McGruff and Teens, Crime, and Community programs, and evaluate prevention efforts. Money is authorized as follows: $7,000,000 for fiscal year 2007, $8,000,000 for fiscal year 2008, $9,000,000 for fiscal year 2009, and $10,000,000 for fiscal year 2010.
