Title 34 › Subtitle Subtitle II— - Protection of Children and Other Persons › Chapter CHAPTER 205— - AMBER ALERT › § 20505
Protects the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and its staff or agents from being sued for hurting someone's reputation over things they say or do while running hotlines, handling reports, or working on programs tied to federal law enforcement or funded by the U.S. The protection does not apply if someone proves the center or its staff meant to harm or knowingly gave false information, or if they acted for a purpose not tied to a federal duty. Preventing or finding crimes and protecting, recovering, or keeping missing or exploited children safe are always treated as federal duties.
