Summary

The Attorney General must work with states and local governments to build and run software that lets them create and operate the same kind of sex offender registries and websites across the country. The software must let jurisdictions share data right away; let the public view appropriate information online, including up-to-date counts of registered sex offenders in each area; follow all rules in this part of the law; and send required notices to people in community notification programs. The first full version of the software must be given to jurisdictions within 2 years of July 27, 2006.
