Summary

Two or more States may, through their state agencies that handle adult protective services, make formal agreements to work together and help one another. These agreements can be used to keep older adults safe and to enforce each State’s laws and policies that protect them. The Executive Director of the State Justice Institute must work with state and local adult protective, aging, social, and law enforcement agencies, relevant national nonprofit experts on criminal-justice data sharing and elder-abuse issues, and the Secretary of Health and Human Services, and then send Congress proposals for laws to make these interstate agreements easier.
