Summary

The Attorney General must create a program so each United States Attorney works with state and local law enforcement to find and prosecute federal gun crimes, including school shootings and gun offenses by juveniles. Up to $9,000,000 is authorized for fiscal year 2002 to hire one additional Assistant United States Attorney in each United States Attorney’s office.

(a)The Attorney General shall establish a program for each United States Attorney to provide for coordination with State and local law enforcement officials in the identification and prosecution of violations of Federal firearms laws including school gun violence and juvenile gun offenses.
(b)There are authorized to be appropriated to carry out this section $9,000,000 for fiscal year 2002 to hire an additional Assistant United States Attorney in each United States Attorney Office.
