Summary

The Attorney General must create a National Gang Intelligence Center and a gang information database. The FBI will house and run it. The Center will gather, study, and share information about gang activity from many federal agencies (for example, the FBI, ATF, DEA, Bureau of Prisons, U.S. Marshals, a DHS border unit, HUD, and the Bureau of Indian Affairs), and from tribal, State, and local law enforcement, prosecutors, probation and parole offices, prisons and jails, and other appropriate sources. The Center must give this information to federal, tribal, State, and local law enforcement, correction and prison agencies, prosecutors, and other appropriate groups. It must send Congress a yearly report on gang activity. Congress may provide $10,000,000 for fiscal year 2006 and for each fiscal year thereafter to carry out the Center.
