The Director can require an application that claims multiple inventions to be limited to one. A divisional filed under section 120 for the other invention keeps the original filing date. A patent on one application can't be used against the other if the divisional was filed before the other patent issued. A patent can't be attacked for the Director's failure to require restriction.
