Defines key words used here. "Treaty" means the Geneva Act of the Hague Agreement on international industrial design registration, adopted July 2, 1999, in Geneva. "Regulations" with a capital R means the Common Regulations under the treaty; with a lowercase r it means rules the Director issues under this title. "Designation" (and related forms) is a request to make an international registration apply in a Contracting Party. "International Bureau" is the treaty’s coordinating body; it sets the "effective registration date." "International design application" and "international registration" mean the application and the filing under the treaty. Other undefined words take their meanings from the treaty and the Regulations.
