Summary

May 22 is National Maritime Day. Each year the President is asked to make a proclamation urging people to fly the United States flag at their homes or other suitable places, and asking United States Government officials to fly the flag on all Government buildings that day.

Title 36, §128

(a)May 22 is National Maritime Day.
(b)The President is requested to issue each year a proclamation calling on—
(1)the people of the United States to observe National Maritime Day by displaying the flag of the United States at their homes or other suitable places; and
(2)United States Government officials to display the flag on all Government buildings on National Maritime Day.
